China Donates P15-M For Relief, Rehabilitation Of Marawi City

China has donated P15 million for the relief and rehabilitation of Marawi City as the Chinese Ambassador handed over the check to President Duterte.

On Tuesday (June 27, 2017), during a meeting in Malacañang Palace, Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua has turned over the check to President Rodrigo Duterte as a sign of solidarity with the Philippines.

The resources of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Health (DOH) to provide medical assistance, relief, and other assistance for the residents affected by Marawi crisis, according to Palace.

“The donation from China to the Philippines is an example of the flourishing partnership between the two countries and their shared commitment towards sustainable peace in the region,” said by the Presidential Communications Operations Office.

Previously, President Duterte said that the government has already concrete plans for the construction of Marawi City, which was severely affected by the deafening gun battle between the Maute Terror Group and government forces.

Different government agencies created a group called “The Task Force Bangon Marawi,” which aims to help Marawi City recovers. Mr. Duterte has already allocated an amount of P20 billion for the rehabilitation of the besieged city.

The president also assured residents affected by the ongoing conflict that the government, military, and police were working hard to end the crisis in Marawi City.

Last May 23, 2017, Martial law has been also declared by President Duterte throughout the entire Mindanao region to control the chaotic situation in the beleaguered city.

Mr. Duterte also revealed that he told some of his relatives to abandon the Maute Terror Group for they were only taking the lives of innocent people and destroy communities. He also told his cousins not to join the terror group.
