SUPT. MARVIN MARCOS HAS BEEN RELEASED FROM JAIL AFTER 2 MONTHS - NewspaperPH

A Leyte court has granted bail to Supt. Marvin Marcos and allowed one of the 19 police officers accused in the killing of Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa and another inmate in November last year to walk out of detention. The DOJ, in a review resolution on May 29, 2017, dismissed two counts of murder against members of the CIDG-8 led by Marcos, indicting them instead for homicide, a lesser and bailable offense. Marcos’ group held an operation at the Leyte sub-provincial jail dawn of Nov. 5, 2016 to serve search warrants for Espinosa and another inmate, Raul Yap, for alleged possession of a firearm and illegal drugs, respectively. Marcos has repeatedly denied that his team planned to murder Espinosa.
