DE LIMA WANTS TO GO OUT IN JAIL - NewspaperPH

Senator Leila de Lima has asked the Senate to allow her to participate and vote in crucial landmark laws even if she is currently detained at the PNP Custodial Center. In a letter addressed to Senate President Koko Pimentel, De Lima cited Senator Antonio Trillanes IV as an example of a lawmaker who was allowed to participate in legislation while in detention. Asked if the Department of Justice (DOJ) would still file an opposition in the event the Senate backs De Lima’s plea, Aguirre said in a text message: "Of course! Our position is contrary to her request." De Lima, however, stressed in her letter to Pimentel that she remains a senator and that she is just a "mere detention prisoner in full possession of political and civil rights."
